Welcome to New York!
We just got back from an amazing trip to NYC! A few members of our Performance Team danced their hearts out this past weekend in the Big Apple and made memories to last a lifetime. We started the weekend off by performing one of our routines from this past year on stage at the New Amsterdam theater, home to Disney's Broadway play Aladdin. Our girls could not believe they had the opportunity to perform on a Broadway stage! That night, our girls and their families got to enjoy Broadway plays (Aladdin or Frozen) and a question & answer session with the cast of the shows they saw. They learned so much about what it takes to be a professional dancer on Broadway and all the hard work you have to put in to reach your dreams.
The next day, it was time to put on their red shoes and dance right in the middle of a crowded Times Square alongside dancers from all over the world. It was truly exciting to see the smiles on their faces as they were able to do what they love in such an iconic place.
Our Performance Team dancers finished off the weekend with two incredible dance classes. The first was taught by Disney Teaching Artists who work on Broadway. They could sing, dance, act, choreograph, play instruments, you name it! Our girls spend the morning learning actual choreography from the Broadway play, Frozen, and even sang a little.
Their second class of the day was with Lindsay Arnold from ABC's Dancing With The Stars. She spoke to the girls about her life, working hard to achieve your dreams, and her time on the show. Lindsay also taught the girls a fun jazz combination!
We had a blast in New York, and we can't wait until our next adventure!
