Class Act: St. Joseph’s Prep senior creates Dream to Dance foundation
Cali Lapenta has been dancing for 16 years at Melrose Dance Academy.
“My passion really is dance. I’ve been doing it for so long, and there’s a lot of people who can’t afford it because dance is so expensive,” said Cali.
So, this senior at St. Joseph’s Prep in Brighton, decided to do something original- she set-up the “Dream to Dance Foundation” and started raising money – her goal $2,000.

The owner of Melrose Dance Academy, Ms. Amanda Bruno, has gone above and beyond to keep her students dancing throughout this entire pandemic. When everything was shut down, she continued to run classes via ZOOM so that the students could stay connected and continue to dance. Once the State began to reopen, Ms. Amanda opened her studio back up with the utmost caution.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Bruno.
Amanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got where I am today because of my parents. My dad owns a business in Boston, which my grandfather once owned, so I was exposed to what it meant to work hard at a young age. Growing up, I watched as my dad went off to work at the crack of dawn, only to come home, eat dinner, and begin his paperwork in his office to prepare for the next day. He gave me a great life because of his hard work, and I knew I wanted that for myself. My studio is what it is today because of everything my dad has taught me.
